WMJM was proud
to be the host of the 2007 Louisville stop of the Soul Food
Festival. Anticipation was intense since an event of this magnitude,
aimed at adults, hadn't been to our city in a long time. The
vendors were busy all day as Louisvillians sampled their wares.
And the show itself lived up to expectations with a packed venue
and dynamic performances by Angela Winbush, Loose Ends, Stephanie
Mills and Jeffrey Osborne. When the announcement was made that
the Soul Food Festival would return, the crowed cheered ecstatically
and the anticipation began anew for Soul Food Festival 2008.

As the venue
coordinator for the Louisville Waterfront Park, I work with
over 100 events per year and regularly with brand new events.
Typically, we coach groups to anticipate a fraction of their
desired attendance in the first year and work toward their goal
in the third or even fourth year. The Soul Food Festival did
not fit that model however and far surpassed our expectations.
With Ken Clay's leadership who has a wealth of experience programming
music and art in this community; and a great understanding of
this market, the festival was an unprecedented success. The
event is very professionally managed and we look forward to
another great event in 2008.

NASHVILLE
TESTIMONIALS
We had about 10,000 people to attend the Soul Food Festival
in Nashville during the summer of 2007. The music and food were
great. Everyone seemed to have a very good time. There were
no complaints from patrons about the event. Every thing went
very smoothly that night. We look forward to another great event
this coming summer.

The Nashville
2007 Soul Food Festival was a SMASH! It was a total adult affair
with live music, wonderful Soul Food, and refreshments all night
long. The Artists were awesome, as well as the Stage Production.
The only thing you can do to it is make it BIGGER
with bigger artists, bigger stage production, and soon...a bigger
area. With nearly 20,000 in attendance, you'll be hard pressed
to find anyone in Nashville who won't be there in 2008! Great
Job!

"GOOD is the Enemy of GREAT!"
The Soul Food
Festival was an excellent event. It was nice to see such a good
turnout. The food and vendors were excellent, although some
of the lines got pretty long. But what do you expect when fifty
people want whiting and fried okra? The location and weather
were perfect and I liked the show lineup. My only complaint
is the sound system. The concert was great for those who were
directly in front of the stage. However, if you were out to
the side, you could hardly hear. Some of my friends also noted
that they paid more for tickets at the door, although the show
was advertised to cost the same on the day of the show. Overall
I had a wonderful time and definitely plan to attend next year.
Thanks.

JACKSONVILLE
TESTIMONIALS
On Saturday,
June 23, 2007, the Soul Food Festival was held for the first
time in Jacksonville, Florida at Metropolitan Park. This venue
is city-owned and staffed by city employees to include the Jacksonville
Fire Rescue Department and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
From a public safety perspective, this event, which was attended
by a crowd of 7,000+, was extremely manageable with no serious
medical or crowd control issues. As the house manager, the promoter
and his production staff insured venue requirements from security
to vendor control was adhered to. This was a very successful
and well-run event. We at Metropolitan Park hope that this will
be an annual event for the people of Jacksonville to enjoy.
